What is YOGA?
Yoga means “union of mind-body-spirit” in Sanskrit, the ancient Indian language. What we know today as yoga, has originated as a method of stretching the body to prepare it or restore it from sitting long hours into seated meditation poses. Yoga was developed from observing nature and also how animals move, pose and stretch. What distinguishes Yoga from normal exercise is that the focus is on the breath and bringing the mind into the present moment. The movements become mindful by following the breath and thus emptying the mind and living on the present moment.
Bringing the practice into the workplace has numerous benefits as yoga is proven to: enhance mental and physical health, relieve stress and anxiety, boost immunity, improve sleep quality and concentration levels, alleviate chronic pain caused by poor posture.
